FYI, the first round of the tournament is April 12, at 7:00pm, here at PCA. Make sure you share this with family and friends. Admission will be $5.00 for students and $7.00 for adults. We will be playing the 3rd or 4th seed team from the east region.
Now for the tough news. The AISA has scheduled kickoff for 2:00pm Central Time for the finals in Auburn. I know that all of us were hoping for a 1:00pm time, but that just isn't going to happen. We should be finished by 4:00pm, on Friday if we play, but this is something each of you will need to keep in mind as you prepare for Jr./Sr.

Final games of JV season cancelled
Parents and players: Due to a change in SAT testing dates earlier in the season, our last two JV games of the season have been cancelled. This is an administrative decision, and one that I support, although I am disappointed. We have tried to reschedule, but the state tournament for varsity is the week of April 11, and spring training for "the other football" begins on the 18th. Therefore we will not be able to practice nor play on the field. An official email will be released when the school's email server comes back online. I would like to meet with both parents and players at the soonest possible time to organize an evening for us to get together and recognize their efforts. Please contact me if you would be willing to assist in hosting or helping with such an event.

Second Scrimmage Game (Short Notice)
Just like that, we have two scrimmage games. Next weekend, Feb 5, we have been invited to Glenwood in Phoenix City, to play a scrimmage game. Kickoff is 1pm Eastern (12noon for us). We will need a caravan of parents to provide transportation as this is very short notice for a bus driver, and I will be attending my daughter's birthday celebration. If you can help, please contact me as soon as possible. Coach Carswell will be the point of contact for logistics.

Scrimmage Game on Tuesday, Feb 15
The coach from Pike Liberal Arts called me this afternoon and wanted to bring his team up for a scrimmage on Tuesday, Feb 15. I have tenatively agreed and would like to pass along this news to all of you. Please let us know if there are any conflicts on that day. We may need a few parent hands to help us mark the field on Sunday afternoon or Monday evening. Please let me know if you will help.

Additional Spirit Pack Item and Additional Payment
Sorry for the delay in updating the blog. The past few days have been crazy busy for everyone. Uniforms are in, and aside from the fitment of the shorts for some, we are pleased overall. We will be taking care of that issue shortly (no pun intended).
The good news is that we are ordering a sharp-looking, hooded sweatshirt which we will wear for warm-ups as well as something the students can sport outside of school. The bad news is that these things cost money. We also must get our uniforms screened with numbers and emblems, so we will also be charging for this as well. The total of all items will be $47. We are charging $4 over the total cost of these items as the uniforms did run somewhat higher than originally thought, and we still must offset the cost of the goalie uniform. I do promise that unless you decide to order another uniform or socks, this will be the last charge until the post-season.
If you would like these charges to be billed to your account, please fill out the form I will send home with your son or daughter, sign it and send it to me at school. I will forward it to the business office. If for some reason you cannot purchase a sweatshirt, please email me directly, so we can work out a suitable alternative.

Physicals and Athletic Handbook Part II
Today, I will be giving athlete information folders to those who are missing physicals or commitment forms. I will give a one-week grace period to each athlete to have these in. After that point, no player may practice until those items are in.
As for physicals, one place that you may get a quick physical is at Physical Express in Millbrook. The address is:
3769 Alabama 14
Millbrook, AL 36054-1942
(334) 285-3222
This is not an endorsement of Physical Express, but it is a legitimate place that an athlete may get a physical for a reasonable cost.

Gate Keepers and Concessions
Parents, we will require gate keepers as well as concession stand workers for some home dates on the schedule. Given the budget situation, it is critical that we collect our gate going forward in order to cover our basic costs as well as any "extras" we may want to acquire in our future. Please let me know which dates you are available by checking the schedule, and contacting me.

Physicals and Althletic Handbook Form
Players and parents, this is a reminder that the Athletic Director must have a current physical on file for each player before players can begin practice. If a player does not have a physical on file, then they must get it in to me as soon as possible. I will not be able to allow players to practice next week if I do not have a physical on file. Also, if this is the first sport you are playing this year, you must provide a signed copy of the statement of commitment found in the PCA athletic handbook.

Practice Schedule and Clothing
The moment we have all been waiting for has arrived. Practice will begin promptly at 3:20pm on January 18, for both varsity and JV squads on the practice field across from the main building. Do not be late. We will practice every day next week until 5 pm except Wednesdays, when we will dismiss at 4:15.
Clothing and equipment requirements are as follows:
- Cleats
- Shinguards
- Comfortable athletic shorts. Girls shorts come at least halfway to the knee from the waist and both boys and girls must have shorts pulled up to normal height. Doesn't matter if you have on UnderArmor or not.
- Athletic shirt. No advertisements or suggestive slogans.
- Sweatshirts and other cold-weather gear is permissible provided it does not interfere with the ability to perform your duties.
